Stowe Australia partnered with the Australian Tax Office to deliver a dynamic upgrade to a key government workplace. This upgrade consisted of a comprehensive 6 level fitout, featuring power, lighting and communications works completed under a compressed program to meet critical deadlines.
The ATO 6 floor fitout spans six floors with each approximately being 3,000m2 each and this included open-plan workstations, meetings rooms, breakout areas, kitchens and flexible conference spaces. Stowe Australia installed a Siemon communications system using over 110,000 metres of category 6A cabling distributed across 12 Communications Rooms and a Main Communications Room. A Dynalite system provided intelligent lighting control, completed by architectural feature lighting that highlighted key design elements. Power was delivered to around 1,500 sit-to-stand desks, supported by dual switch rooms on each level. The project also involved UPS infrastructure installation, mechanical services upgrades, and coordination of IST procedures, all completed within an 18 week program with a peak workforce of over 60 staff.
A compressed 18-week program with limited site access whilst streamlining operations across a large team has certainly presented itself with a unique set of challenges. The project was delivered on schedule through the implementation of a detailed, trade specific project of works. All milestones, critical paths and labour requirements were identified prior to commencement. As only 1 elevator was present to use for hundreds of tradespeople, break times and start and finish times were staggered to mitigate congestion. Close communication was kept with suppliers and building management to receive major deliveries out of hours to avoid excessive lost time. The large team was managed by creating a team structure whereby specific roles and responsibilities were identified and communicated. Project goals and values were developed as a team and regular team meetings allowed us to track progress and site culture.
