Stowe Australia played a pivotal role in the multi-stage expansion of the Cessnock Correctional Complex in New South Wales, delivering comprehensive Design & Construct Electrical and Communications infrastructure across three major projects between 2017 and 2019.
Stage 1: Cessnock Rapid Build Prison (2017)
In 2018, Stowe Australia was engaged to provide electrical and communications services for the Cessnock Rapid Build Prison, a 400-bed maximum-security facility designed to alleviate pressure on the state’s correctional system. The project was delivered in collaboration with Lendlease and the NSW Government.
Stage 2: 330-Bed Maximum Security Expansion (2018)
In 2019, Stowe Australia contributed to the expansion of the Cessnock Correctional Complex by providing electrical and communications services for a new 330-bed maximum-security facility for Richard Crookes Constructions. This project included the construction of accommodation blocks, a gatehouse, reception, visiting areas, programs building, and a health facility. Stowe’s responsibilities encompassed the installation of Main Switchboards, Distribution Boards, Lighting Systems, Emergency Lighting, and KNX automated lighting control systems.
Stage 3: 240-Bed Minimum Security Expansion (2019)
Also in 2019, Stowe Australia provided electrical and communications services for a new 240-bed minimum-security facility at the Cessnock Correctional Complex for Lend Lease. The project featured cottage-style accommodation buildings, a gatehouse, reception, visitors’ area, programs building, and a health centre. Stowe’s work ensured the seamless integration of electrical systems within the new infrastructure, supporting the facility’s rehabilitative and educational programs. Stowe were also engaged to complete the Security Installation Works.
Through these successive projects, Stowe Australia demonstrated its expertise in delivering complex electrical and communications solutions within high-security environments, contributing significantly to the modernisation and capacity enhancement of the Cessnock Correctional Complex.
