Defence Victoria Multiple Sites

The Australian Defence Force engaged Stowe Australia to install and replace switchgear and switchboards across 40 defence sites throughout Victoria.

The project required the installation and replacement of 5006 RCDMCB’s in existing switchboards and the installation of 98 new switchboards.
The works involved the remediation of 2951 electrical distribution boards that were compliant with requirements of the new WHS legislation for workplaces to be protected by electrical safety switches, known as Residual Current Devices (RCD’s). Stowe was initially engaged to audit the sites and provide a dilapidation report.
Outage times were agreed to carry out the works with isolations undertaken by Stowe Australia.
Once isolated Stowe Australia upgraded the existing circuit protection from circuit breakers and fuses to RCDMCB protection. Switchboards at their end of life were replaced with new ones.
Power was required to remain on during cut overs for existing defence staff to perform certain work tasks and experiments. Stowe arranged temporary generators to keep the facility powered during the works.
