Description
Stowe Australia has been engaged by Watpac Construction for the supply and installation of the electrical & communications infrastructure for the Forensic Pathology & Coroners Court complex comprising of the following:
Main Switch boards and Power Factor Correction Unit
Located in the ground floor Main switch room are the building Main Switchboards and Power Factor correction Unit which supplies the entire building through a series of local distribution switchboard and dedicated services switchboards.
Distribution Boards
The local Distribution boards in each zone supply the power and lighting circuits for that area as well as housing the KNX lighting control equipment. Each distribution board is individually fed from the Main switch board and is capable of separately measuring energy usage for lighting and power to meet BCA requirements.
Power Outlets
Essential, Non-essential and UPS backed power outlets have been installed throughout all areas to service the requirements of the buildings occupants and supplementary services. Circuit protection has been installed on each circuit as per AS3000 including Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs).
Lighting
A combination of functional and decorative light fittings have been installed throughout to meet the relevant lux levels and complement the aesthetics of the building.
KNX lighting control system
A KNX automated lighting control system has been installed to control all lighting with the complex (with exception to the plant areas). The KNX system is comprised of a computerised head end installed into each Zone distribution board, PIR motion sensors, a Main touchscreen controller located at the reception desk as well as local lighting control panels. This system has been customised to meet the clients desired lighting functionality and integration with meeting room audio visual systems.
Emergency Lighting System
A Zoneworks Emergency Lighting system has been installed into FPCC to monitor and maintain the emergency light fittings. This network of emergency light fittings will be integrated in the NSW Health Infrastructure virtual server to monitor Zoneworks system.
Communications – Cat 6A Structured Cabling system
A Siemon Cat 6A F/UTP structured cabling system has been installed comprising of horizontal cabling being reticulated to communications rooms on all floors. All communications outlets are presented as RJ45 type outlets in the field and on 24 port patch panels in the associated communications room.
Communications – OS2 Single Mode Fibre Optic Backbone Cabling
A Siemon OS2 Single Mode Optical Fibre backbone system has been installed via diverse pathways between all floor communications rooms the Primary Communications room and the Secondary Communications Room.
Communications – Voice Grade Backbone cabling
A Cat 3 copper voice grade backbone cabling system has been installed from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) located in the Primary Communications room to each Communications room and other dedicated services (Lifts, FIP Café etc.).
Uninterruptible Power Supply
Two UPS systems (125kVA+25kVA & 50kVA+25kVA) have been installed to supply all UPS power outlets and dedicated UPS backed loads in the event of mains power failure. These UPS systems are located in the UPS room on ground floor and are distributed throughout the building via a network of dedicated UPS distributed switchboards.
Diesel Generator system
A 650kVA Standby Diesel Generator has been installed in the external car park to supply essential power outlets and dedicated generator backed loads in the event of mains power failure. The Diesel generator is supplied by a 6000 litre above ground bulk fuel tank and transfer system located adjacent to the generator set.
Master clock system
A network synchronised master clock system consisting of a computerised head end controlling wall mounted clocks has been installed throughout the operational areas of the complex.
Lightning Protection System
A Lightning protection system has been installed utilising the steel roofing structure and Ø10mm aluminium rod as aerial conductors. The structural steel in the perimeter columns act as the system down conductors which are bonded to the building footings have been tested and are suitable for use as the system earth terminations.
