HMAS Waterhen

The HMAS Waterhen Mid Term Refresh project was to support the sustainment of the HMAS Waterhen site by rectifying and upgrading mechanical and electrical services, ship power infrastructure, working accommodation functionality, base entry and security cameras.

The works required included electrical and shore power rectifications to maintain the current capacity, rationalisation of CCTV cameras, base front gate security and functional enhancement, extensive upgrade to the building mechanical plant, working accommodation upgrades and reconfiguration, providing 31 new work points including new computer terminals.
The aim of the shore power works was to remediate and replace select shore power system components to remediate identified capacity, condition and compliance issues and provide reliable shore power for the site over the long term.
There was a requirement on site to ensure continuous shore power supply. Stowe planned and executed staged works onsite to complete the infrastructure upgrades with as little disruption to the base as possible.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there was a shortage and delays of some equipment. Stowe had to procure components from various international suppliers to mitigate delays to the project.
