Kangaroo Point Bridge

A key part of the Brisbane City Council’s plan to enhance urban mobility and city connectivity, the Kangaroo Point Bridge is a single-mast cable stayed structure dedicated to pedestrians and cyclists, joining the Brisbane CBD and the Kangaroo Point peninsula. Stowe received a 2025 NECA Award for this project.

The Bridge is 460m long with the mast reaching 95m in height and includes advanced electrical works that ensure the bridge is not only functional and sustainable, but also visually impressive.
Stowe Australia were engaged to complete the Design and Construct of Electrical, ICT and Security Services for the Bridge. The project aimed to incorporate innovative design solutions for public safety lighting and theatrical lighting – which is integrated in the Brisbane City Council’s City Lighting Scheme and allows for integration of coloured themes throughout the city’s major infrastructure.
Our Public Safety Lighting design ensured that lighting levels supported public safety on the bridge and to help illuminate CCTV coverage. The Thematic Feature Lighting features of the bridge bring the structure to life, with colour-changing DMX Controlled Lighting allowing seamless integration into the Brisbane City Lighting Scheme, and featuring an array of themes to highlight the city’s vibrant nightlife.

The Kangaroo Point Bridge involved four distinct construction locations in both the City Landing and Kangaroo Point Landing, as well as two fabrication yards in the Port of Brisbane.
The Bridge Mast and Spans were pre-fabricated and floated down the river for assembly on site. This required Stowe Australia to accurately design and model all elements of our works to ensure the pre-fabricated sections were correctly fit out and the assemblies were in the correct locations prior to the on-site installation of the spans and mast. This involved a large amount of project co-ordination with Structural engineers, the Building Team, and the client to ensure the functionality of the bridge was maintained along with the aesthetical feature of the bridge including the architectural finish and thematic lighting features.

The project also ran six days a week, and for 20 hours a day over three shifts. The co-ordination between our internal teams and the Besix Watpac Team was paramount to the success of the project and the delivery of this world-class project.
Finally, the inclusion of two new unique dining options – including an above-water restaurant and bar and riverside café – has helped this spectacular piece of built infrastructure become an iconic destination and landmark for all Brisbane residents and tourists.
