Stowe Australia had the privilege of being awarded and is on track to successfully complete the International Terminal Expansion Project at Newcastle Airport in coming months.
This exciting development is a significant milestone for the region and for Australia’s air travel industry, enhancing connectivity and boosting tourism. The expanded terminal will unlock access to international destinations and is expected to include New Zealand and Southeast Asia including Singapore. On the domestic front, new routes such as direct flights to Perth, Western Australia will also become available.
Our Newcastle branch has worked in close collaboration with Construction Control to deliver key infrastructure upgrades, including: a revamped short-term parking facility featuring 700kW of solar power to the facility; establishment of a new high-voltage triple-chamber substation serving both the existing and new terminal; upgraded and new departure and arrival halls, seamlessly integrated with the existing domestic terminal and a comprehensive fit-out to meet the stringent operational requirements of the Australian Border Force.
The construction of the new International Terminal joins onto the existing Domestic Terminal, which was live and operational for the duration of the construction of the new facility. Out-of-hours works and extensive planning was required to complete the works and services cutovers in this area.
Australian Border Force also required specific services unique to an airport environment to facilitate their occupation of the Airport.
We can’t wait for the public to enjoy this much anticipated improvement, as the Stowe team and all the teams involved in this build put the finishing touches on this important project.
