Stowe Australia was engaged by Besix Watpac to deliver the complete electrical and communications package for the Port Macquarie Base Hospital Expansion.

Key upgrades included 70 additional overnight acute inpatient beds, a larger emergency department, new operating theatres, a critical care unit, and a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation laboratory. The expansion enhances access to clinical and aged care services, while supporting future regional growth.

Stowe’s scope of work included:

  • Main switchboards and distribution boards
  • Backup generator plant and UPS systems for critical infrastructure
  • Essential, non-essential, and UPS power supply with isolation switches and outlets
  • Underground and cable tray pathways for electrical and communications reticulation
  • Internal and external lighting
  • Lighting control systems
  • Lightning protection system
  • Structured voice and data cabling system using fiber and copper backbone
  • Communications racks and full cable management
  • Medical service panels for patient care areas
  • Electrical changeovers and integration with the existing hospital campus infrastructure

Delivered in close coordination with hospital management, all works were staged to avoid disruption to ongoing hospital operations.

The expansion added a four-storey clinical building to the existing hospital, significantly boosting healthcare capacity in the region.
