CANBERRA ACT PROJECT TEAM ARE OUR WINNERS – AMAZING RESULT!
Congratulations Stowe Australia on taking out the Commercial Large Project of the Year at the 2024 NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association) ACT Excellence Awards.
The NECA Awards are the top honours in Australia’s electrical and communications industry. They recognise national excellence and professionalism. Entering the awards provides Stowe Australia a chance to be recognised for its outstanding achievements.
This world-class project has earned them a nomination for the 2024 NECA National Awards in November. We look forward to seeing it among the finalists.

The effort and hard work put in behind the scenes and on construction is indescribable. The Project Team faced personal challenges, being away from family and unable to support their partners daily. Other challenges included the project’s length, commitment required, travel, living in Canberra, and extensive training and inductions for the ACT construction site.
Stowe Australia were selected by Multiplex Construction to perform the works on the new Canberra Hospital is a 45,000 m² stand-alone building housing the most acute services and will be the first point of contact for all emergency patients arriving by air, ambulance, or self-presentation. It includes clinical spaces, plant spaces, a helipad, and parking for two helicopters in service simultaneously. The Works include the design, documentation, coordination, certification, supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, testing, programming, data entry, service activation, maintenance, quality assurance, and warranty of electrical, communications, security, and audio-visual services, some of the scope outlined below:
- HV Sub-Stations and Control Rooms
- Consumer mains and submains
- Main Switchboards
- Distribution Boards
- Generators and associated control systems
- Helipad lighting & associated controls
- Body & Cardiac Protected areas
- Medical Services Panels
- Lightning control system
- Smoke seals
- Patient Entertainment System
- Fixed Duress Alarm
- Electronic Access Control System (including intruder Alarm)
- New Server Room, Building Distributors and Floor Distributors
- Nurse call and Master Clock System
- Acoustic treatment and sealing
- Security and access control system and CCTV
