Description
The Metricon Stadium Solar “Halo” Roof project located on the Gold Coast was a truly unique project due to many complex factors.
Most outstanding was the fact that it is Australia’s largest generating BIPV system with seamless integration into the building fabric roof covering approximately 2,500 square metres suspended 30 metres above the 25,000 spectators at the new Gold Coast Suns (AFL) team home ground.
Stowe Australia’s task for this massive structure took on more than the usual Solar PV requirements; we had to clearly understand the key stakeholder visions and performance expectations, whilst taking on a fixed lump sum contract.
Understanding these complex factors, the project team had to come to grips with the unique use of Building Integrated Photo Voltaic modules. Each BIPV module was custom made for this particular project, based on our final design.
